So, here I am, writing...about me. If you're reading this it's probably because you've heard of me and want to know more about the person that could possibly be photographing you and your loved ones and your special milestone.
Firstly, thank you for considering me. Secondly, my story is simple. I love taking photos and it all began here...
I was born in Philippines named after my mother, but was always called “Honey” by everyone else. Hence, Honey Images.
I came to Melbourne at the age of 5 where I grew up in Cottles Bridge, surrounded by art and nature. My love for photography started with my Uncle George, who handed me his Canon SLR at the age of 13 to take a photo of his young family. He would take me to his wedding gigs and get me to hold the reflector, guide me through editing and talk endlessly about the technicals of cameras, lighting and all things photography. After learning to use an SLR at high school, I fell in love again at Deakin Uni, Rusden when I first held a Mamiya, a medium format camera which I took my first nude photo shoot with. Thanks to my hubby, I'm a very proud owner of a Mamiya which I really should use more often but too scared to break it. When I finished uni, I saved my pennies and bought myself my own SLR and later my first DSLR. I photographed everyone and everything! I have literally millions of photos and took my camera everywhere. I practiced and practiced. Upgraded my cameras and my skills. Family and friends started trusting me with their portraits, all of them still hang their prints on their walls and though my techniques have definitely improved each time (the nature of photography) I am so always so chuffed to see printed images I took displayed proudly.
It was word of mouth that brought me photography jobs, mothers groups, friends of friends, work colleagues, the kindergarten, the school, work and the town, the industry and it were these reviews I decided to not return to my career in corporate real estate and started Honey Images after my second babe turned one in 2011. After having been hired by friends to photograph their weddings and their family portraits I felt I was ready to take the next steps. I touched on the nature of photography constantly changing, trends and styles always evolve and to ensure that my photography is kept up to date I am constantly sourcing education and information from fellow photographers and the industry.
I exhibit my landscapes and pursue my personal photographic portraits to ensure that my photographic passion is kept alive and not just by the demand of the consumer. My three children always my subjects.
Photography is my creative outlet and exploring ways to individualise each photo session to suit my clients is my forte. I think it's important to express each family differently by the way they've shown me through our appointments, our communication and we are all different, so why not express that.
Thank you to those who have shared their families with me and allowing me to capture your special times to create Honey Images. Give me a buzz, let's have tea and chat about what makes your heart happy.
