The next family arrives with a toddling little girl who sparkles in the hands of her Mumma and Dada. The last car arrives and two dancing girls and their big brother approach me with both glee and apprehension in their delightful faces. All are cousins and all are enjoying the camera, some more than others, some getting restless in the first ten minutes. In this moment, I think two things “How do I make these kids relate to me so they do as I’ve asked?” and one “If you can’t beat ‘em, join em!”
Ultimately, people want to see photos of themselves as who they are, not always looking at the camera, not always with a cheesy grin. It’s the photos I fall in love with when you just allow people to show their own spirit and this family boasts plenty of it and that’s why I do love doing what I do.
